Wildlife Activity Alert
I have received several calls recently regarding bear sightings on cameras and residential porches throughout our District. Due to the numerous wildfires across Utah, along with drought conditions and damage to natural food sources, wildlife are being displaced and may be moving into areas where they are not commonly seen. This can result in increased sightings of bears and other wildlife near homes, farms, and communities.
I reached out to the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources (DWR), and they advised residents to take precautions to avoid attracting bears and other wildlife. Please be sure to:
- Secure all garbage and trash containers.
- Remove bird feeders if bears have been seen in the area.
- Keep pet food, livestock feed, and other attractants stored indoors or in bear-resistant containers.
- Clean outdoor grills after use.
- Be aware of your surroundings when outdoors, especially during early morning and evening hours.
If you see a bear, do not approach it. Give it plenty of space and only report any concerning behavior or repeat sightings to the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources.
Please help spread the word to neighbors and family members so we can all remain safe while wildlife adjusts to these changing environmental conditions. Below are some helpful links. Thank you.

Lead & Copper Survey for North Fork Customers

Attention Customers Paying for Garbage Services!!!
MONDAY, March 31st, the compactor will be removed during construction. A temporary location for garbage disposal will be created for paying customers. Maps and photos of the area have been emailed to paying customers. Please continue to use the compactor at its usual location, 8838 N Alpine Loop (the fire station) until the new dumpster is placed March 31st. If you see anyone dumping illegally, please report to the North Fork offices. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause our customers, as you know we have limited space here in the Canyon, and this was literally our only option. Thank you for your understanding and patience.
- DO NOT LEAVE GARBAGE IN AN EMPTY LOT! If the garbage is being hauled, please do not leave garbage off the side of the road. Video surveillance will be placed, and you will be reported to the Utah County Sheriff for illegal dumping.
- DO NOT LEAVE GARBAGE AT THE FIRES STATION BEGINING MARCH 31st! There is currently video surveillance of the lot, anyone dumping in that area will be reported to the Utah County Sheriff.
- Throw the garbage up into the bid. This will not be like our current compactor; it will have an open top, not a door.
- If you see illegal dumping or have questions/concerns, please contact the District Offices.
- Do NOT place corrosive, hazardous, or flammable material in the dumpster. Do not place furniture or other large items! Rules will be posted; violators will be reported.
- Continue to check the District Website for updates https://www.northforkdistrictutah.gov/
